Would you like to live at the French House?
Are you or will you be a UW student with the equivalent of 4 semesters of college French,or 4-5 years of high school French?
Would you like to speak French on a daily basis and live in an enriching, educational environment?
Do you want to live on the lake, just off campus, with a 2-minute walk to State Street?
Looking for healthy, hearty and homemade food ?
The linguistic experience of each resident is further enhanced by the presence of 1-2 French (from France) students who live at the French House and there’s also a team of college-aged native speakers who join us regularly for lunch and who are eager to share their culture and learn about American culture from our students.
The French House’s 13 single and 10 double rooms are comfortably furnished and air-conditioned. There is a formal living room, a large dining room, two TV lounges, a library, a study room, and on-site laundry. Residents also enjoy three delicious & healthy meals per day Monday – Friday and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays (all while classes are in session).
Room and board rates are very competitive with those of UW-Madison residence halls. Living at the French House should not be a financial burden to our students, and thanks to our donors, UW-Madison students have an opportunity to live independently in a practical and intellectually stimulating environment and this is what makes the French House an excellent choice for our students of French.
If you would like to visit the French House, please contact us. The best time to visit is during lunch where you can dine (on us) and chat with the residents and other students and discover what life is really like at La Maison Française. After lunch, we can tour the house and answer all of your questions about the French House and our entire program in French at the UW-Madison.
