French teachers: please join us this summer for an exciting professional development opportunity! The UW-Madison 2011 Advanced Placement seminar in French will help French teachers build a content-rich upper-level course. Taught in French, this seminar has a dual approach: to delve deeply into France’s relation to Algeria to provide AP French teachers with an introduction and overview of the new curriculum and exam. Participants will work with recent scholarship on the relation between Algeria and France and create lesson plans from contemporary literature, film, music, and popular culture.

The course will be held from Monday, June 20-Friday, June 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the School of Education Building on Bascom Hill. Participants will earn two graduate credits for $800 (non-credit participant cost is $500). This fee includes free library access for the week, all materials, and three meals. All participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the week. Find out more about the program here
